Early Head Start

Early Head Start, established in 1994 by the Head Start Reauthorization Act, offers comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income expecting mothers, infants, toddlers and their families. In center-based as well as home-based settings, Early Head Start promotes infant and toddler health and development; fosters positive family relationships and supports parents as the primary decisions makers and nurturers of their children.

Every child is born ready to learn, grow and succeed! Early Head Start recognizes the importance of the development that occurs in the first three years of life and actively works in partnership with families and community to promote the healthy growth and development of children and families. Children who experience positive, responsive care from their parents in the early years enjoy an important head start toward success in their lives.
