A Brief History of Sunrise Children’s Foundation

Motto: Helping children to fulfill their potential of safe, educated and healthy lives.

 

Founded in 1993. Organized solely for pediatric health, education and research.

 

Today – we have more than 12 programs that are produced in-house or in partnership with others such as University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), College of Southern Nevada, the Metro Police Department, Child Protective Services, and the Clark County School District.

 

Sunrise Children’s Foundation touches the lives and helps in some way 200 families through our HIPPY programs, 120 Head Start families, 10,000 middle and high school students through Baby? Think It Over!!! and over 150,000 with all our other programs this year.

 

Our key programs are:
Baby? Think It Over!!! A teen-pregnancy prevention program.
Be Bright, Don’t Light An anti-smoking program for middle & high schools.
HIPPY Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters

(ages 3 – 5)
SCAN Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect prevention/intervention
SCF’s Education Health Center at Agassi Academy to enhance the students’
educational potential through wellness and resolving health concerns.
Starbright An interactive computer network for hospitalized children
Sunny Tales Reading to school kids and donating books to local elementary schools.
Sunrise WIC Clinics A supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children.

 

The newest SCF program is Early Head Start – which provides services that promote infant and toddler health and development; fosters positive family relationships and supports parents as the primary decisions-makers and nurturers of their children.
