The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a research-based parent involvement, school readiness program proven to help parents prepare their 3, 4, and 5-year-old children for success in school. The HIPPY curriculum, supplemented with children’s books and supplies, is designed to strengthen children’s cognitive and early literacy skills as well as their social/emotional and physical development.
During weekly home visits, parents receive child development guidance and hands-on practice in using the carefully developed HIPPY curriculum. Throughout 30 consecutive weeks of each preschool year, the curriculum progresses and builds upon child development principles and parenting skills. Over the course of three years, HIPPY children and families participate in 90 weeks of early childhood development and family services.
